Before Code Vein was revealed, many thought that this would be Bandai Namco’s take on the Dark Souls series since the developers From Software announced that they would be taking a break from the series for a while. And fans were only half right. Yes the game seemed similar to Dark Souls, except it had vampires. And looked more anime than realistic. Point is that it was dubbed Anime Dark Souls and as such Bandai Namco showed off more gameplay video at Anime Expo 2017.
Here’s a bit of story background about the game:
In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity. Wandering aimlessly in search of blood, the Lost will stop at nothing to satisfy their hunger
From what’s been shown so far Code Vein seems to be a shaping up to be a decent Dark Souls substitute. Code Vein is set to release on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in 2018.
