The Super Nintendo library has a literal treasure trove of games that never saw a release in the West. And even with the inception of the Virtual Console with the launch of the Wii and the rise of mini plug n’ play consoles, there are still some games that have either never gotten a re-release or have been released at all. One of those series that this pertains to is the Seiken Densetsu series or as it’s known in the West, the Mana series. So far the only game to ever get released, re-released as part of the SNES Classic and a HD remaster was Secret of Mana. Final Fantasy Adventures, the first entry of the series on the Game Boy, and Seiken Densetsu 3 aka Trials of Mana still haven’t been re-release, not to mention that Trails of Mana has never seen a release in the West. Until now. At Square Enix’s E3 press conference on Monday, the announced for the first time that all three games will be released together in a collection called Collection of Mana. Here is the trailer that was released during the conference:
The Collection of Mana includes the following games: Final Fantasy Adventure for the Game Boy, Secret of Mana and Trails of Mana from the SNES. It’s great that games like these, especially Trails of Mana which never saw a release in the West, are getting a second chance. Fans of the series won’t have to wait too long to play these classic as Square announced that they are now, exclusively on the Nintendo eShop. But if fans would rather have a physical copy of the collection then they will need to wait for August 27, 2019, as the game will have a limited run, again exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
