Monster Monpiece to be released at end of month

I think I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: I never have thought that Monster Monpiece would see a Western release. But here we are, two weeks away from its release on the 27th for North America and the 28th for Europe. For those who don’t know what Monster Monpiece is or have forgotten about it, Monster Monpiece is a card battle RPG. Think Yugi Oh but with cute chibi monster characters. While this sounds like your typical JRPG, its extreme rubbing feature is what caught most of the Western media’s eye.

Some monsters you will have to capture. In order to capture them, the game goes into a capture mode where you turn the Vita vertically and rub the on screen character. This will cause her to moan and parts of her clothes to come off till she is down to her undergarments and is capture. Combine that with some suggestive art work that some of the cards have and you can see why I didn’t think this game had a chance to come to the West.

But here we are only two weeks away from the release of the game. Monster Monpiece had a really tough journey to get here. From doing major edits so that the game can receive an M rating to facing anger from fans that were against the edits and started to call out Idea Factory for censorship. But were the changes really that bad? Here check out the trailer that was released when Monster Monpiece was first announced:

Personally I think the game was re-edited just fine and that it doesn’t take away from the core game or the obvious fan service. I understand why they had to make some edits and I agree with them. Check out some of the features that the game will have

• Likeable characters and a story rife with adventure! With a wide range of unique and quirky personalities, the entire cast of Monster Monpiece each add a little spice to the adventurous story from beginning to end!

• Use Skills, Potentials, and a strategic mind! While the battle system seems simple, you still need a strategic mind to best utilize your Monster Girls’ Skills and Potentials in battle!

• Fusion and Aura Bonus kick battles up a notch! The keys to a successful battle lie in mastering the Fusion system and activating the Aura Bonus to increase your cards’ stats during battle!

• Card battles featuring 3D chibi characters! There are more than 100 Monster Girls that will support you in battle against your opponents. Once summoned to the battle field, they will pop upon it as vibrant 3D chibi characters!

• First Crush Rub Level up your Monster Girls (battle cards) with the First Crush Rub mode, where you
send your magic power into the cards by rubbing the touch screen!

As you can see, its very much the same game as the Japanese version just re-edited and a re-worded.

If you are looking for something weird yet strange to play on your Vita this Summer, Monster Monpiece seems like a good place to start when it launches at the end of the month on the 27th.
