Atelier Rorona Plus: The Alchemist of Arland conjuring it way to the 3DS

The Atelier series is a pretty unique set of games. Unlike most RPGs, the Atelier series puts great focus on the art of alchemy. The games have players search for ingredients so that they can create items, gear and even power them up. Story-wise the games are light-hearted and conflict usually arises from other troubling events that may not include a villain.  The series usually releases on Playstation products, but coming this June in Japan fans will be able to either experience once again or for the very first time the adventures of Atelier Rorona in Atelier Rorona Plus: The Alchemist of Arland for the “New” 3DS. Publisher Tecmo Koei and developer Gust have released a trailer for the game, showing some of the major changes that have been made for the 3DS port:

Besides the obvious addition of the second screen, Gust has made a ton of changes for the 3DS version of Atelier Rorona Plus. The 3D models have been turned into chibi versions, the battle system changed from turn based to tactical grid, and there seems to be extra features that are exclusive to the 3DS version. Atelier Rorona Plus for the 3DS is set for a Japanese release of June 4, 2015. There is no word of a Western release, but the series does have a sizable fan base so there might be a chance for it to come over if there’s enough fan demand.
