Ever since Adult Swim brought back Toonami back in 2012, the animation block has grown in size and has varied its line up. Sure we still have the big three (Naruto Shippuden, One Piece, Bleach) still airing, but seeing shows like Soul Eater, Blue Exorcist, Sword Art Online and etc. getting a chance to grow their fan based even after their initial releases is great. Hell Toonami is so decided to the scene and its fans that, in conjunction with Funimation, managed to secure Space Dandy and have it air it here in North America first.
Now that the Spring season is almost at an end, its time to shuffle the line up of anime. Joining the block along with Naruto Shipuden, Blue Exorcist, and both seasons of Black Lagoon is the smash hit of 2013, Attack on Titan.
Yes, you read right. The show that rose to instant popularity across the world in just a few episodes, will be airing on Toonami. In fact it seems that the show will kick off the block at the 11:30PM EST time slot. Here’s the brief announcement trailer that Funimation released:
While we do live in an era where it is much easier to see anime whenever we want to, I believe that airing anime on TV still holds value. It gives people who are not into anime a chance to see what the fuss is going on and can serve as a gate way into exploring and finding more shows. Either way seeing Attack on Titan will give a lot of people reason to say up late.
