Right now we are living in a world that where we share every single aspect of our lives on social media platforms. From sharing a picture of what you had for lunch to a post about that drunken fling you had last night, we know everything about everyone. But do we really? How well do we really know our friends? How well do they know us? Well my friends and I found out the hard hilarious and embarrassing way in Games Adults Play’s Friend of Faux.

Set up and rules

Setting up Friend or Faux is really simple. Each player receives a score card and writes down their name on top and the names of everyone else in the space provided. Then each player is given a Bull Sh!t card to use in the game. Once everyone has their items, then the game begins. There are five decks of cards, all numbered and color coded. These represent the different round. One person starts the game by drawing a card from the first deck and reads the question. It is up to that person to either tell the truth or lie. The other players then have to decide if the answer that the person who read the card sounds like that person. If they are right they get a point, if wrong no points. However if someone feels like that the person is lying, they can call them out on their lie by saying “Bull Sh!t” and pulling out their BS card. Then the person who called the first person out must make the case as to why they are wrong. If the person who did the call out manages to convince the lying player, that person get a point and ends their turn, The round ends once everyone has drawn a card. Repeat the process four more time and the person with the most points wins. Do know that the questions start to get more and more personal as each new round starts.

Initial thoughts

I’d like to think I know my friends pretty well, since I’ve known them my whole life. During the first round, we learn some small things about each other that were very minor in nature or we did know but didn’t even realize that we did know. However as the rounds progressed, the questions became more and more personal and risque in nature. Some of them got a little too personal and were skipped. Luckily the game does allow for players to skip the question and draw a new card.

Final Thoughts

I have mixed feelings about Friend or Faux. Overall its a pretty fun game that requires players to pop their personal bubble and open themselves up to others. The questions do get personal as the rounds go on and at time can be a little uncomfortable for those who are super shy. But as I mentioned, the game does allow you to redraw a card if the first question is too personal. So gather your friends, fauxs and countrymen for a night of enlightenment with Friend or Faux and see who really are your friends and fauxs.

7/10
