When XSEED brought over Senran Kagura Bust for the 3DS to North America, I was really surprised. I knew that there was talks about wanting to bring it over, and also mentions about a potential backlash due to the contents of the game. Some even though that the game would be dead on arrival. But it seems that the fan will like what they like no matter what critics say and the game gained some mild success with an above average MetaCritic score of 6.3 from critics and a 7.4 for users. Somehow this was good enough to green light Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus for the Vita.
Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus is more of what Bust was, only now instead of a 2D plane of moment, the girls can move around in 3D, a la Dynasty Warriors. Shinovi Versus not only retells the story between the Hanzō National Academy and the Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy but also the fallout of those events as a new class of girsl from the Hebijo school want to prove to that they are the new era of ninjas and new rival school called the Gessen Girls’ Academy. They feel that the Hazo Academy girls have tarnish what it means to be a ninja and must be punished.
Each of the four groups has five girls each, which means that players will have 20 deadly but beautiful girls to play as. An English trailer hasn’t been released yet, so here is the Japanese trailer instead:
Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus will be battling its way to North America Vitas Fall 2014, with a collector’s edition to be exclusively sold through XSEED’s online store.
