Its been fourteen years since the first Call of Duty was set in World War II. Since then the series has been to the modern era, to the future tomorrow, the Cold War, back to and even in space. Even with futuristic guns and technology, fans have have been clamoring for a return to WWII, which is why Treyarch’s World at War was so popular. So with a bit of fan input and EA’s Battlefield going to World War I, Activision revealed that they will be hitting the beaches of Normandy in Call of Duty: WWII. This past week the following trailer was released:

Call of Duty: WWII places you in the boots of Ronald “Red” Daniels, a private in the 1st Division. As Red you will fight along side your brothers in arms through some of the war’s most infamous battles: D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, and many more. Fun fact: even though this is the first time CoD has gone back to WWII since World at War, this isn’t the first time 1st Division has made an appearance in the game. While the soliders in the trailer refer the division as the “Bloody First” it also goes by “Big Red One”. The same division that was in the PS2 game, Call of Duty 2: Big Red One.
