One of the most, if not the most, popular entries in the Final Fantasy franchise is Final Fantasy VII. It was the first Final Fantasy game use 3D models and 3D cut scenes, it was the first Final Fantasy to be on the CD format, and for many fans it was their first Final Fantasy they ever played, which is also the reason why the game is both heavily revered and despised at the same time. But in an age where HD re-makes and re-masters are starting to become the norm, everyone can agree on one thing: FF VII need to be redone in HD. So far there has been one prequel PSP game, one sequel PS2 game, one movie sequel, one cellphone game that never made it to the states and several re-releases over the years. Now add one iOS and Android game to the mix.
During E3 this past week, Square Enix had revealed that they will be making another FF VII. And no its not a mobile port or the HD remaster that everyone has been asking for. Its this:
This is Final Fantasy VII G-Bike, a mobile game based off a specific point in the game and playable again in the Golden Saucer. G-Bike will have the following features:
- Full 3D stages where players must evade obstacles and fight enemies at high speeds
- Classic monsters and Cloud Strife’s fighting techniques, created with gorgeous graphics
- Offers rich gameplay, including numerous missions and character development
- Contains a wealth of familiar gameplay features including missions, epic boss battles, detailed weapon customization and item collection
Personally it looks fun and I’ll probably download and play it when it comes out. However I can take a wild guess at what the “hardcore” fan base will think of this game.
