E3 2014: Square Enix to bring Final Fantasy Type-0 to PS4 and Xbox One, Agito to mobile devices

Right now the majority of Final Fantasy fans hate the direction that theĀ Fabula Nova Crystallis series of Final Fantasy games have been going (namely the XIII saga and the still unfinished FF XV). The only game within this in mythos that fans agree on that is worth playing is Final Fantasy Type-0. Unfortunately since its release on the PSP in 2011 and only in Japan, there has been no word if the game will released or even ported over to the Vita. Since then fans had to get by on a fan translation that has just finished completion this past week. If you don’t remember what Type-0 was about or how it looked, here’s a video from 2011 that shows the game in action:

Now during the same time this week, Square Enix announced that they will be bring Type-0 to the West for the PS4 and the Xbox One as Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. I’ll be honest, I was never expecting Type-0 to ever get a localization. And if it did, I was thinking that they would restrict Type-0 to be a digital download. I didn’t think that they would make it multiplatform and for the new gen consoles for that matter. The game has no release date (no surprise there) but it did get a new logo image:

As for the second announcement, do you remember when I reported that Final Fantasy Agito was being ported to iOS and Android devices and that it was never going to see a Western release? Well I was dead wrong about two things. One this isn’t a mobile port of Type-0 and two its making its way to the West as a Free to Play download with micro-transactions. Here’s the trailer that makes the announcment and shows off some gameplay:

Final Fantasy Agito is set to take place in the same world as in Type-0 and serves both as a prequel and companion to the game. Agito uses the original logo that the PSP version of Type-0 used:

Agito will be free to play and will be release on all iOS and Android smart devices.
