Its been about five years since Square Enix revealed Kingdom Hearts III at the 2013 Playstation press conference. Since then news and updates about the game have been coming out at a pace so slow that many have thought that the game was in developmental hell. However in the past two years more news and trailer have been coming out for it and now with E3 2018 in full swing, we finally get some more news. First, a week before E3 started, Square Enix announced that the game would see a release date of January 29, 2019.
As for E3 week, Kingdom Hearts III made an appearance at the Microsoft E3 2018 presser with a brand new trailer that introduces Frozen and Ratatouille worlds (the same trailer was also shown at Square Enix’s own showcase):
If that wasn’t enough Kingdom Hearts for you, the game also made an appearance at the Playstation showcase/press conference with a new trailer that takes Sora and the gang back into the world of Pirates of the Caribbean:
Not only do we see the return of Jack Sparrow and the crew of the Black Pearl, we also see new gameplay in the form of navel combat. They must have been hanging around the Assassin Creed dev team. Square also revealed that there will be a Kingdom Hearts III Playstation 4 Pro limited edition console up for pre-order.
But wait there’s more. Exclusively for Playstation 4, Square Enix will be releasing an all in one package of the game. This package will include Kingdom Hearts 1.5, 2.5, and 2.8 included with Kingdom Hearts III. This is perfect for those who have never played a Kingdom Hearts game before and want to jump in. Kingdom Hearts III is set for a January 29, 2019 release date for Xbox One, Steam and PS4 with the all in one package and the limited edition PS4 Pro releasing on the same day as well.
