Its been about three years since Capcom revealed that they were planning to remaster Resident Evil 2 for modern consoles. Since then there has been mo word about the game, although they did release Resident Evil 7 and was greeted with positive reviews and sales. But still no word on the game’s progress other than “We’re working on it”. Fast forward to the Playstation press conference this past Monday and fans were greeted with this trailer that was shown during the show:
Much like an RKO out of nowhere, Capcom revealed a trailer for Resident Evil 2’s remake and it looks amazing. Then on the next day, a gameplay demo was shown on the Playstation Experience stage, which you can see here:
It seems that the game is running on the RE Engine, the same engine that was used in Resident Evil 7. The game also seems to do away with the original tank controls in favor of the modern over the shoulder third person view. There is a bit of contention about changing the controls among fans, personally I think the change to modern controls and camera is a positive change. Resident Evil 2 is set for a release date of January 25, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One and PC via Steam.
