JUMP Festa 2011: Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition

It’s that time of the year once again. It’s time for the annual JUMP Festa. For those who don’t know about JUMP, its a annual convention that celebrates the various anime and manga and is sponsored by Shueisha, the creators of the various JUMP magazines, most notably Shonen JUMP. Various anime shows that get created had their start on the pages of JUMP before having their debut on TV. This is also when Namco Bandai and Square Enix show off their anime products and make video game announcements. I’ll get to them later, right now I want to focus on a game that got announced that got me scratching my head. Move over Street Fighter X Tekken. Watch out Marvel vs. Capcom. Here comes Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition:

Everyone knows what Pokemon are, so that needs no explanation, Nobunaga’s Ambition however does. Nobunaga’s Ambition is a series of strategy games from Dynasty Warrior developer  Koei. They are more similar to the Romance of the Three Kingdom series, also developed by Koei. The object of the game is to unify the clans of Japan under one ruler or Shogunate by any means necessary. How the two came together is anyone’s guess, but the mash up looks interesting enough. Though getting a localization of the game to the West might to prove a bit hard since Nintendo usually publish all Pokemon games. We’ll see if the game gets at showing at this year’s E3 and that show answer that question.
