Kojima gives brief demo of Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain gameplay, reveals size of game map

As E3 slowly rolls near, a few nights ago Hideo Kojima went on the Japanese KojiPro podcast to show off a few things ahead of the expo. The first thing he showed off was some new gameplay of Phantom Pain that attendees of E3 will be able to play with:

As we can see in the brief demo that the UI is the same as Ground Zeroes. But the one thing that will excite fans the most is the return of the cardboard box. Other than being able to pop out of the box for a surprise stick up, there wasn’t anything new he had to show off. Afterwards he showed of a diagram of the previous maps in the Metal Gear series compared to the Phantom Pain map:

Kojima shows each map from each entry to the main Metal Gear games compared to Phantom Pain’s map, which happens to be all of the brown areas and beyond the clouded parts. Keep in mind that this one area, which happens to be Afghanistan, is just area of the whole game. Hopefully more is revealed at E3, or at least info on the official trailer, since on the podcast Kojima revealed that they will not be showing the gameplay to the public and only to the press.
