With only a few months till the release of the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain, it seems that this might not just be Hideo Kojima’s last Metal Gear Solid game but also his last game with Konami ever. As reported by Gamespot, that there has been a fallout between publisher Konami and developer/studio Kojima Productions, a subsidiary of Konami and run by Kojima. Due to the fallout, all of KojiPro’s semior staff have been put on restricted access to corporate internet, emails and phones. In addition to this restricted access, Kojima and key staff will only have limited opportunities to lend their appearance to promote MGSV The Phantom Pain in the coming months. The biggest hit however is that now all senor staff at KojiPro, including Kojima himself have been downgraded to contractors instead of permanent employees.
There was an internal power struggle between KojiPro and Konami its seems which led to all of the restrictions and downgrades Konami levied at KojiPro. Now all traces of the KojiPro logo have been removed from all official Metag Gear art, and all of its social media profiles have been re-branded. So far there has been no official statement regarding these actions other than the typical “everything is still on track” PR speak.
