Its been a while since there has been new details about Kingdom Hearts III. The last bit of news that was released was the reveal of the new world based off of Toy Story. Now this past weekend the D23 Japan expo was held and Square Enix showed off two new trailers, one that shows of two new worlds and the other reveals a brand new theme song by Hikaru Utada. First here is the new trailer that introduces two worlds based off of the movies Monster’s Inc and Tangled.
In one part of the trailer. we see that Sora, Donald and Goofy have ended up in Monstropolis and at the entrance to the electric company Monster’s Inc as monsters themselves. As they head inside the building, they meet Sully, Mike Wazowski and the human child Boo. The two are in the middle of trying to figure out how to get Boo back to her door when Sora and friends appear and decide to help get Boo home. After showing Sora traveling through several set pieces from Monster’s Inc, the trailer then shifts over to the kingdom of Corona from the movie Tangled. There we see Sora joining up with Flynn and Rapunzel as they take down enemies. We even get to see a new character summon in the form of a water spell that has Ariel in it.
The next trailer introduces the brand new theme song, “Don’t Think Twice”, by Hikaru Utada both in English and in Japanese:
This is the first new song the series has had since Kingdom Hearts II’s Passion. As for the various spin offs they used several remixed versions of the first theme song Simple and Clean as well as Passion, so its good to see that the game is getting a new theme.
Kingdom Hearts III is set to release sometime in 2018. Let’s hope that we’ll get a more solid release date when E3 rolls around.
