Nintendo reveals plans for E3, Nintendo World Championship returns

If you were to ask who had the better showing at E3 last year, many gamers would say Nintendo. Instead of going with a traditional press conference, Nintendo reached out to fans and many of those who couldn’t attend E3 with a Nintendo Digital Event, the Nintendo Tree house and by having demos of upcoming games at participating Best Buy stores.  With E3 only a month away, Nintendo plans to repeat the success of last year, but with one major addition: the return of the Nintendo World Championship.

Much like the Super Smash Bros Wii U Invitational last year, Nintendo will be holding a tournament. And not just any tournament mind you, but the grandaddy of all tournaments: The Nintendo World Championship. For those who have no idea what this is (or have never seen the Pat the NES Punk/AVGN crossover) the Nintendo World Championship was a tournament that tested the skills of gamers in three different games. The last time Nintendo held this tournament was back in 1995. Now 20 years later it makes its return. Details as to how to enter the tournament and what the games that will be used have not been revealed, only that those who think they are best should go to their participating local Best Buy and try out. Winners will be flown out to LA during E3 to compete in the finals.

So start training and head to your local Best Buy on May 31th to see if you have what it takes to play with power.
