What’s been great about PAX Online is that some of the more weird and interesting games get their chance to shine. One such game that I’ve been introduced to is Moo Lander by The Sixth Hammer.
The Sixth Hammer, a developer from Plovdiv, Bulgaria, describes Moo Lander as a “2D adventure platformer with no platformers and glorious battles with mighty ancient cows and lots of milk”. While the game does have everything that The Sixth Hammer says it does, it kind of looks like it draws inspiration from shmups as well. As for the story of Moon Lander, you take control of the Lander, the last hero in a dying civilization. You are tasked to find milk, yes milk, in order to power the civilization back up. And the only place to find said milk is on the plant of the Mighty Alien Cows.
As weird as that sounds, the game looks amazing so far, with all of the art assets in game game drawn by hand. In addition to the main story/campaign mode, there will be several online/local couch multiplayer modes that you and up to three other friends can play. One of the modes that looks the most interesting is the recently announced Galactic Mooball. Inspired from last year’s Euro soccer tournament, The Sixth Hammer added in a soccer mini game to Moo Lander. The team must really love soccer as shown by some of the team names: LiverMool, Cowselona, Moonchester United. The mode looks like a lot of fun from what I’ve seen so far. Moo Lander is set for a release date of Spring 2022, but if you want to get a sneak peak at the game, The Sixth Hammer has a demo of the game up on Stream right now.
