During the early days of the 90’s console wars, Nintendo and SEGA would wage TV commercial warfare on each other with their mascots, Mario and Sonic. But little did they know in 1996 that another company not only would throw their hat in the ring, but also had a mascot that wasn’t afraid to not only call out the competition, but call them out right out side their own offices. That company was Sony and the mascot: Crash Bandicoot. After a couple of successful games and a kart racer, Crash was sold off to Vivendi Universal/Activision and started showing up in other consoles. Now 20 years late Crash has come home to the Playstation brand in the form of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy for the PS4. This trilogy consists of the first three Crash games on the PS1 remastered for the PS4. Check out the trailer that was shown during the Playstation Experience 2016 keynote conference on Saturday:
While this isn’t a brand new adventure for Crash, it’s the next best thing in my opinion. Hopefully there’s enough interest and high enough sales that Activision is convinced to either give Crash a new game or give the remasterd treatment to another previous unofficial Playstation mascot, Spyro the Dragon. Either way, welcome back to the Playstation family Crash. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is set for a 2017 release.
