PS Vita Heaven: UMD Passport Announcement

Early this morning (or late last night in Japan time) Sony had an online presentation called PS Vita Heaven showcasing some new titles in the works for the system.
A wide range of developers were showing of their games running on the handheld and some of them look really impressive. But first, a quick announcement video about the UMD Passport in Japan:

The first half of the video just explains what the passport system is and how you can get digital versions of UMDs you already own for a small fee. After that recap the video goes on to list new games and publishers added to the Passport program. The first game announced to be added on the list is Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. Developers that will be adding their library of games in the future are the following:

  • Arc System Works
  • ARDTINK
  • irem
  • Acquire
  • Imageepoch
  • Atlus
  • SNk Playmore
  • Naxat
  • Genki
  • Temco Koei
  • Codemasters
  • Cyber Front
  • Silver Star
  • Star Fish
  • SEGA
  • Sony Computer Entertainment
  • D3 Publisher
  • TGL
  • Dorasu
  • Nippon Ichi Software
  • revolution
  • Paon
  • Hamster
  • Mages
  • Fu Ryu
  • Prototype
  • MarvelousAQL
  • media5
  • Ubisoft
  • Russell
  • Kadokawa Games
  • Takuyo
A few of the bigger publishers have already revealed what games they will be adding to the Passport program. If I’m missing or forget any games, its due to not knowing the game of the game since the title is in Japanese, so I apologize in advance. The first of these publishers to list their games is EA and they will add the following to the program:
  • Dante’s Inferno
  • Need for Speed Undercover
  • N4S Underground Rivals
  • N4S Carbon
  • N4S Pro Street
  • N4S Most Wanted
  • Burnout Dominator
  • Burnout Legends
  •   FIFA 11
  • FIFA 12
  • Medal of Honor Heroes
  • Medal of Honor Heroes 2
Next Capcom showed their list of games that will be on the program:
  • Rockman Dash1
  • Rockman Maverick Hunter X
  • Vampire Lord (Dark Stalkers) Chronicles
  • Ultimate Ghosts n’ Goblins
  • Monster Hunter Portable 2G
  • Monster Hunter Portable 3rd
  • Last Ranker
  • Rockman Dash 2
  • Rockman Powered Up
Next is GungHo with their games:
  • Mimana Iyar Chronicles
  • Ragnarok 2
  • Cho Aniki
Konami brings Snake to the Vita with the following:
  • MGS Potable Ops
  • MGS Digital Novel
  • MGS Peace Walker
Square Enix shows off a really strong backing of the UMD Passport program with some of their hit titles:
  • Puzzle Bobble
  • Exit
  • QIX ++
  • The 3rd Birthday
  • Space Invaders Pocket
  • Tactics Ogre
  • Dissidia 012
  • Dissidia
  • Dissidia Prologue
  •  Final Fantasy IV Collection
  • Final Fantasy Tactics
  • Final Fantasy Type-0
  • Final Fantasy I
  • Final Fantasy II
  • Lords of Arcania
Now I know I am missing a few games and developers, again I apologize for that. But you must admit this is a pretty big and varied list of games that are being supported in the UMD Passport program. Now a very, very important thing to mention. The list and all of the UMD Passport games only apply to Japan and not to the US. Unless you have a Japanese Vita do not get your hopes up for a similar program here in the US.
