Square Enix announces Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster for PS4

Two of my favorite JRPGs of the PS2 era and all of all the Final Fantasy franchise would have to be Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2. In 2013, at the height of HD Remixes and Remasters, Square Enix remastered both games as Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster. This HD remaster of the two games added content that was not found in the original North American releases of the games, a remastered soundtrack and HD graphics. The collection was well received amid some minor faults. Now SE has recently announced that the Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster will be making its way to the PS4 later this May.

According to the press release sent by SE, the PS4 version of the Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster will have the following key features:

Cross-Save Functionality – Players can transfer their save and continue their progress across the PlayStation 4 system, PlayStation 3 system, and the PlayStation Vita handheld entertainment system. (PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions sold separately.)

Ability to Switch Between Original and Remastered Soundtrack – Play Final Fantasy X with the beautifully remastered soundtrack or, new to the PlayStation 4 system version, switch back to the original classic tracks.

Remote play – Supported for the Playstation Vita handheld entertainment system.

Now you can make the argument that publishers are starting to get carried away with all of these HD remasters and remakes, however the inner Final Fantasy fan in me has wanting the really nice desk calendar filled with artwork by Yoshitaka Amano:
