Final Fantasy XII was an odd ball of a main title for the franchise. Instead of having either an active time battle system or a conditional turn battle system, FF XII had the gambit system which lets the player control a character’s AI and a licence system that determines what skills and equipment characters can use. These two systems combainded made the game look like an MMO instead of a “traditional” Final Fantasy.
Even so, FF XII went on to be come a fan and critic favorite, earning several Game of the Year 2006 awards and selling over 5,2 million copies world wide. Now fans can can relive the magic once again in HD with Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age HD Remaster for the PS4.
With E3 2016 just a week away, Square Enix has announcued that Final Fantasy XII will be getting a HD remaster. As for the subtitle, the Zodiac Age, this might reference the “International” version of the game where more content was added in after the North American release. While the game is set for a 2017 release, hopefully Square Enix will shed more light about the remaster next week at E3.
