While SEGA hasn’t been in the good graces of gamers for a while now, they still manage to produce a couple of worth wild franchises that might not see a Western release. One such franchise is the Ryū ga Gotoku series, or as its know in the West, Yakuza. With a successful release of Ryū ga Gotoku Zero on the PS4, franchise creator Toshihiro Nagoshi announced at Sony’s TGS press conference that they were going to do something very special for the 10th anniversary of the Yakuza franchise. He announced not only was there going to be a Yakuza 6 in the works but also Yakuza Kiwami. Remember when SEGA put an “HD” version of Yakuza 1 & 2 on the Wii U but it didn’t take off? Well SEGA is doing what they should have done in the first place and will be remaking the first game for the PS3 and PS4. Here is the trailer showing the game in action (all which is the PS4 version):
Yakuza Kiwami will not just be the game remastered in HD but will also have brand new scenarios that were left out due to being too grand at the time. Yakuza Kiwami is set for a Japanese release date of January 6, 2016. It will also come with a demo of Yakuza 6. Hopefully SEGA realizes that Yakuza, as smaller franchise as it is compared to GTA, is just as loved and revered and decides to bring Yakuza Kiwami to the West.
