When you think of Square Enix, what game series are the first ones that pop into your mind? Final Fantasy? Dragon Quest? Kingdom Heart? Square has a ton of IPs that many fans, other than the hardcore ones, know about. One such series is the Romancing SaGa series. Most know that the series started off as a spin off to the main Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy Legends. In Japan it was known as Makai Tōshi Sa·Ga or Sa·Ga for short. Square officially changed the name of the series with the 1992 release of Romancing SaG. Several sequels and spin offs later, Square has announced that they will be remastering Romancing SaG 3 for all plalforms next year. Here’s the trailer (in Japanese mind you) announcing the remaster:
It seems (at least from what I understand) that after getting some negative feedback about their recent remastering of Secret of Mana, Square will not be remastering the game into 3D but just uprezing the pixels for HD standard. Romancing SaG 3 Remasters is slated for an early 2019 release on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Vita, PC and iOS/Android. No word yet of a Western release, but it’s not out of the question since Romancing SaG 2 received a re-release last year on PSN.
