TGS 2018: SEGA reveals new game, Project Judge

Its time once again to see what Japanese developers have up their sleeves as Tokyo Game Show 2018 kicks off next week. One developer that seems to be getting some buzz is SEGA and their Yakuza development team. With the conclusion of Ryu’s story in Yakuza 6 and adapting the Yakuza formula in Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, everyone was wondering what’s next for series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi. Well it turns out SEGA revealed what’s next at Sony’s Pre-TGS press conference. The next game coming from the the Yakuza team is tentatively titled Project Judge. Here’s the story trailer that was shown off:

While Ryu’s story has ended in Yakuza 6, it seems that there’s more stories to tell in the game’s red light district, Kamurocho, as Project Judge takes place in it. As the trailer has shows, the game follows Takayuki Yagami, a former defense lawyer whose reputation has been tarnished due to a former client committing a crime that he was just acquitted of. He is now a private detective, caught in the middle of a serial murder case that will put his investigative skills and fists to the test. To show how Yagami will do that, a gameplay trailer was also released, which shows off the investigative parts of the game and the fighting mechanics :

So far what’s been shown looks awesome and is a good step in a post Ryu world in the Yakuza series. Project Judge (again a tentative title) will be releasing exclusively on the PS4 with no word yet on a release date.
